How to Have a Good Easter With Aligners

Posted .

Do you want to have a good Easter this year? If so, then you need to keep your orthodontic aligners in tip-top shape. The more you care for your aligners, the reduced chance you’ll have of running into any problems. You can also stay on track toward your perfect smile! So, our orthodontist, Dr. Casey Johnson and pediatric dentists Dr. Matthew Burt, Dr. Paul Allen and Dr. Gina Graziani, encourages you to have a good Easter with your aligners by doing the following things:

-Take your aligner out before eating: This is important because if you keep your appliance in your mouth while you eat and chew gum, then it can scratch and even damage the aligner. This can make the aligner noticeable and it can damage the aligner to the point where it can no longer effectively align your smile.

-Clean your smile regularly: It’s important to clean your teeth and gums after each time you eat and drink something (other than water). This is because if you fail to do so, food particles and bacteria can become trapped under the appliance, which can promote dental issues because the substances have a chance to attack and harm the tooth enamel.

-Wash your aligner: Rinse your aligner each time you take it out and follow the cleaning instructions to clean the aligner twice a day. Cleaning the aligner can prevent plaque buildup and can help you prevent dental problems.
